Serious traffic accidents in Poland injure drivers in Wałbrzych and on A1 highway

On June 23, a 42‑year‑old woman drove a car in Wałbrzych while intoxicated, with a blood‑alcohol level of about 0.7 ‰. She lost control, hit a tree and the vehicle rolled onto its roof. The driver escaped serious injury and was detained; authorities said she faces up to three years in prison, a driving ban and a fine.

A day later, on the A1 motorway near Dobieszowice, a 3.5‑tonne bus driven by a 39‑year‑old collided with a Hyundai i20, crushing the car under the bus’s trailer. The Hyundai driver survived but required hospital treatment. The crash blocked both lanes of the motorway for several hours while emergency crews rescued the driver and cleared the scene. Police are investigating the circumstances of the impact.
