SERNAC begins nationwide inspections of Chilean thermal centers
The National Consumer Service (SERNAC) has launched a nationwide inspection process targeting thermal centers in Chile to ensure compliance with the Consumer Protection Law. The inspections began in the La Araucanía and Los Ríos regions and are expected to expand across the country in the coming months.
Coordinated with the National Tourism Service (SERNATUR), the oversight focuses on several key areas: transparency in pricing for access and additional services, such as towel or cap rentals; the provision of safety recommendations; and the presence of clear signage for emergency exits and evacuation routes.
Authorities are also evaluating physical safety measures, including the use of non-slip flooring in locker rooms and near pool edges. Regarding pool usage, inspectors are verifying that maximum depths are clearly communicated and that proper lifeguard presence or necessary warnings are in place. SERNAC has urged providers to implement necessary adjustments to mitigate risks and ensure legal compliance.
