Serra de' Conti opens Franco Perticaroli House for independent living of people with disabilities

On 4 July 2024 the new Franco Perticaroli House was inaugurated in Serra de’ Conti, Marche. The facility, created by the association Il Giardino dei Bucaneve, is the first building in the region specifically designed to enable people with disabilities to live autonomously. The opening ceremony was attended by families, future residents, local officials, religious leaders and the family of the late volunteer Franco Perticaroli, after whom the house is named.

The project was made possible by a donated plot and construction work from entrepreneur Antonello Verdini, the efforts of association president Sonia Sdogati, and contributions from volunteers and other entrepreneurs. A message from Disability Minister Alessandra Locatelli was read, and regional and provincial officials highlighted the collaboration between public and private sectors that allowed the house to be realized. The house will also host a four‑year‑old child with a disability from Madagascar as part of a remote adoption program.
