Serres Racetrack to receive major infrastructure upgrade funding
The Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Ioannis Vroutsis, has announced a significant funding package for the upgrade and expansion of the Serres Racetrack in Greece. The total budget for the project is reported to be approximately 11.16 million euros, with funds secured through the Ministry of Finance’s Public Investment Program.
The primary objective of these works is to modernize the facilities and expand the track to meet international standards. This upgrade aims to allow the venue to receive the necessary certifications to host pan-European and world-level sporting events, enhancing the region's tourism and economic development.
During a visit to the site, Minister Vroutsis emphasized that the racetrack is a unique asset for Greek sports. He noted that the project received personal interest from the Prime Minister and is intended to make the facility fully competitive after 30 years of operation, helping Greece compete more dynamically on the European sporting map.
