Volkswagen reveals Tukan pickup and develops new large SUV

Volkswagen has officially revealed the design of its new Tukan pickup truck during the 71st Festa do Peão de Boiadeiro in Barretos, Brazil. The model, which is intended to succeed the Saveiro, will be available in two configurations: the Robust version with a single cab for professional use and the Extreme version with a double cab for leisure and family use. Built on the MQB platform and produced in São José dos Pinhais, the Tukan is scheduled for commercial release in the first half of 2027.

Additionally, Volkswagen is developing a large seven-seater SUV, internally known as Atacama. This project is technically linked to the next generation of the Amarok and will utilize an architecture developed in collaboration with SAIC. The SUV aims to compete in the large SUV segment, offering significant interior space due to a projected wheelbase of approximately 3.30 meters.

In automotive news, the 34th edition of the Sertões Petrobras rally is underway in Brazil, covering over 4,000 kilometers through Goiás, Bahia, and Tocantins. Mitsubishi Motors has established a strong presence in the event, providing 75 vehicles for tactical and operational support, including models such as the Triton and Eclipse Cross. The competition features 146 vehicles and 248 participants navigating extreme terrains.
