Overview

Volkswagen continues to expand its SUV and utility offerings globally. In Europe, the company launched the Tiguan Edition 20 to commemorate the model’s 20th anniversary. The Tera compact crossover will receive mechanical upgrades for the 2027 model year, transitioning from the 170 TSI engine to a more powerful 200 TSI engine delivering up to 128 cv and 20.4 kgfm of torque. This update also includes replacing the six-speed automatic transmission with an eight-speed unit. To clear stock, Volkswagen is offering discounts of up to R$ 20,000 on 2026 Tera models.

Market data from September 2026 indicates strong performance for Volkswagen in Brazil. The Polo led the passenger car category with 6,446 units sold, while the T-Cross became the leading SUV in the market with 4,104 units sold. The Tera followed closely in second place for SUV sales with 4,100 units.

Regarding pickups, the Amarok is concluding its 16-year production cycle in the region. To mark this, Volkswagen is launching the Amarok V6 Unlimited, a limited edition of 200 numbered units in Brazil. As part of a strategic R$ 4 billion investment in South America, the compact MQB-based Tukan pickup is scheduled for a first-half 2027 launch in Brazil. In the commercial sector, Volkswagen Camiones y Buses is preparing to enter a new segment in Argentina with high-roof vans developed with SAIC Motor.
