ServiceNow introduces AI Passport for agent governance
ServiceNow has announced new governance and automation tools designed to manage the deployment of autonomous AI agents within enterprises. A central component of this update is ‘AI Passport’, a cryptographically signed credential that defines an agent’s identity, authorized actions, and accessible systems.
Developed in partnership with Nvidia, AI Passport works alongside Nvidia’s Open Agent Safety Platform to provide deterministic controls. This ensures that AI agents operate strictly within approved boundaries; if an agent attempts to exceed its scope, it can be redirected, restricted, or deactivated.
Additionally, ServiceNow is expanding its AI Control Tower to include features such as ‘Shadow AI’ detection, cost governance tools, and value intelligence to track consumption and quality. These new capabilities, including AI Passport and AI cost management, are expected to be available in the fourth quarter.
