ServiceNow launches AI Passport and governance tools for enterprise agents

ServiceNow has introduced a suite of new tools designed to manage the security and governance of AI agents within enterprise environments. Central to this release is ‘AI Passport’, a cryptographically signed authorization credential that allows companies to verify the permissions of AI agents in real-time during workflow execution. This system ensures that agents remain within defined boundaries, allowing for immediate intervention—such as redirection or shutdown—if an agent attempts unauthorized actions.

To complement AI Passport, the company has expanded its ‘Super Intelligence Control Tower’. This platform provides centralized visibility into an organization’s AI landscape, including models, datasets, and prompts. It is designed to help businesses monitor AI costs, assess business value, and manage risks associated with ‘shadow AI’—unauthorized AI agents operating within a network.

Additionally, ServiceNow announced enhancements to its ‘EmployeeWorks’ platform. These updates include ‘Productivity Assistants’ for role-based tasks like research and scheduling, and ‘ToolSmith’, an environment for developers to build secure, enterprise-ready AI tools. These developments aim to address rising security risks and the lack of formal governance programs in global enterprises.
