Sesame Workshop expands emotional wellbeing resources globally
Sesame Workshop, the non-profit organization behind Plaza Sésamo and Vila Sésamo, is expanding its digital library of mental health and emotional wellbeing resources. Supported by funding from the MetLife Foundation, the initiative provides practical strategies for children aged 3 to 6, their caregivers, and educators to strengthen social connections and caregiving relationships.
The new content features characters such as Elmo and Abby Cadabby and focuses on themes of empathy, kindness, and cooperation. These topics are also integrated into selected segments of the series ‘Stories of 1, 2, 3’ within the current season of Plaza Sésamo/Vila Sésamo on Netflix.
Regional implementations include:
In Mexico, a partnership with the Instituto Chihuahuense de la Infancia y la Adolescencia (iChDII) will bring the program to 55 preschools in Chihuahua, aiming to benefit 170 teachers and over 3,000 children.
In Brazil, strategic partnerships with municipal education networks in Manaus and Recife will deploy materials in schools. In Manaus, the project expects to involve 30 schools and 300 educators to reach approximately 6,000 children and families, while in Recife, the initiative aims to reach 165 schools, 700 teachers, and an estimated 15,000 children.
The global initiative also serves audiences in India and the Middle East.
