Sesame Workshop global emotional wellbeing initiative

Overview

Sesame Workshop, supported by the MetLife Foundation, has launched a global initiative to expand digital resources for mental health and emotional wellbeing. The program provides strategies for children aged 3 to 6, caregivers, and educators to foster empathy, kindness, and cooperation.

In Mexico, a partnership with the Chihuahuan Institute for Integral Child Development (Ichdii) has implemented the first stage of a socioemotional support program. This phase involved training childcare personnel across several regions, including Chihuahua and Juárez, to help children manage emotions. The initiative aims to reach 50 childcare centers and approximately 3,000 children, with future phases focusing on monitoring the integration of these tools into daily school activities.

Other regional implementations include partnerships in Brazil, specifically in Manaus and Recife, to deploy materials in schools, as well as outreach in India and the Middle East.
