Sesc RJ to launch inaugural film festival in Petrópolis

Sesc RJ has announced the inaugural Festival Sesc de Cinema – Petrópolis, scheduled to take place from May 22 to 29, 2027, at the Centro Cultural Sesc Quitandinha. The event aims to expand the institution's involvement in the audiovisual sector through exhibition, training, and industry support.

The festival will feature eight days of activities, including five different film showcases, debates, workshops, and business networking sessions. Submissions for three specific showcases—Andança, Olhar Fluminense, and Mirada Infanto-juvenil—will open on October 22, 2026, and remain open until November 22, 2026.

This initiative coincides with the planned opening of Sesc RJ's first dedicated cinema room at the Centro Cultural Sesc Quitandinha in early 2027. The project is designed to serve as a cultural hub for Brazilian and international cinema, fostering critical thinking and professional exchange within the film industry.
