SescTV to premiere series on Brazil's changing family structures

SescTV is launching a new original series titled ‘Retratos Familiares: O Brasil em Transformação’ (Family Portraits: Brazil in Transformation) this October. Directed by Paulo Markun and Laine Milan, the eight-episode production aims to bridge the gap between statistical data and human experience by exploring how the 2022 Census findings manifest in daily life.

The series examines the evolving landscape of Brazilian families, highlighting trends such as an aging population, declining birth rates, delayed marriages, and increasingly diverse domestic arrangements. Filmed across various regions of the country, the documentary uses reportage and social reflection to show how social, cultural, and economic shifts are reshaping the concept of family in contemporary Brazil.
