Setúbal Hosts Regional Final of Portugal’s New 7 Wonders Competition

The regional final of the "Novas 7 Maravilhas de Portugal" will take place on Saturday, 1 August, at the Avenida José Mourinho in Setúbal. The event, featuring 14 finalist monuments across categories such as castles, churches and modern works, will be broadcast live on TVI. Voters can support their favourite sites by calling a dedicated phone line or using the TVI Pass app, each vote costing €1 plus VAT and audited by PwC.

Luis Segadães, president of the New 7 Wonders initiative, urged broad participation, stating that "each vote brings the monuments closer to national distinction." Setúbal’s vice‑president Maria do Carmo Tiago expressed satisfaction, saying: "É com enorme satisfação que Setúbal recebe a Final Regional da Grande Lisboa das Novas 7 Maravilhas de Portugal." Candidates include the Convento de Jesus and the Escola Superior de Setúbal, Castelo de Palmela and Cristo Rei, among others, with the seven winners advancing to the national phase.
