Settebello wins water polo tournament in Montenegro

The Italian men's national water polo team, known as the Settebello, won the quadrangular tournament in Herceg Novi, Montenegro. The competition served as a preparation event for the 2026 Mediterranean Games scheduled to take place in Taranto, Italy.

Italy finished at the top of the standings with 8 points, winning all three of its matches. In their opening game against the hosts, Montenegro, the match ended in a 14-14 draw during regulation time, with Italy ultimately securing a 19-17 victory in a penalty shootout. Italy followed this with dominant performances against France, winning 14-5, and China, winning 21-12.

The final standings for the tournament were Italy in first place, followed by Montenegro in second, France in third, and China in fourth.
