SEVE proposes plan to increase Greek exports to 50% of GDP

Themis Sarasidis, President of the Association of Greek Exporters (SEVE), has presented a series of strategic proposals to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis aimed at boosting the competitiveness and outwardness of the Greek economy. The central objective is to implement a decade-long national plan to increase the share of exports in the national economy from the current 40.1% to over 50% of GDP.

In 2025, Greek exports of goods and services reached €99.6 billion, representing 40.1% of the GDP. To achieve the new target, SEVE's proposals focus on several key pillars, including accelerating investments in modern multimodal transport infrastructure to better connect industrial zones with ports and road networks.

Additional economic measures proposed by SEVE include the creation of an Export Development Fund, measures to manage energy costs, and the reduction of corporate tax advance payments to 50%, with retroactive effect to the 2025 tax year. The association also requested an exemption from the 0.60% contribution under Law 128/75 for loans that are repaid through export products.
