Greek business associations propose economic strategies

Greek business associations have presented various strategic economic proposals to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Ministry of National Economy and Finance to drive national development. The Panhellenic Association of Exporters (PSE) submitted a roadmap titled ‘Brand Greece 2030’. Comprising 50 specific interventions, the plan aims to strengthen the export-oriented economy. Following a period where Greek goods exports reached €27.63 billion in the first half of 2026, the PSE identified administrative hurdles rather than market issues as primary obstacles, calling for a reduction in bureaucracy, which they characterized as an ‘invisible tax’ on Greek production. The Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) presented a costed action plan to Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through 2030. The ESEE proposal focuses on reducing bureaucracy, enhancing SME competitiveness, and lowering tax and social security burdens. Specific recommendations include the abolition of presumptive taxation for trade and occupation, debt restructuring into 120 installments, and the creation of seizure-proof accounts.
