Chiikawa film drives Japan-wide merchandise and food collaborations

The animated film "Chiikawa: The Secret of Mermaid Island" is set for a nationwide theatrical release on July 24, 2026 in Japan. To promote the movie, several companies have launched limited‑time collaborations.

Suntory Beverage & Food began a campaign on July 16, offering original goods such as a floating‑cushion and a carry‑on bag to customers who purchase designated Suntory drinks and submit receipts via LINE. The entry period runs until September 8.

Seven‑Eleven and Ito‑Yokado started selling the "Enimai Lottery" on July 25, featuring items like georama figurines, plush toys, wind chimes, pouches, retro cup sets and bean‑dish sets. Buyers can also enter a chance to win a flow‑somen machine, with the lottery running through August 31.

The Chiikawa Bakery chain introduced a series of themed breads and drinks from July 24 through October 22, including flower‑crowned breads, yakisoba‑filled buns, spicy curry breads, and a mermaid‑shaped slice bread. Each purchase of a take‑out drink includes a random original movie coaster.

Actress Mirai Shida promoted the Seven‑Eleven collaboration, highlighting limited‑edition takoyaki and other exclusive items, emphasizing the appeal of "limited" merchandise to fans.
