Severe Flood Damage Hits Homes in Austria's Pinzgau Region

Heavy rain caused the Pirtendorferbach to burst its banks in the Pinzgau area of Salzburg, Austria. The sudden surge turned small streams into raging rivers, flooding the house of local resident Martin Eberl and his family. Mud, debris and rock piled up to about a meter high in the driveway and ground‑floor rooms, leaving the home heavily damaged. While existing flood‑defence measures prevented an even larger catastrophe, cleanup and repairs are expected to take weeks, and the community has rallied to support those affected.

The incident underscores the vulnerability of Alpine valleys to extreme weather events and the importance of local solidarity in disaster response.
