Severe heat forecasts hit Yemen and Palestine

The Yemeni civil aviation and meteorology authority warned that Thursday, 25 June, will see extremely hot conditions along the coast and in the desert, with temperatures reaching up to 44 °C in interior regions such as Saʽdah and 38 °C in coastal cities like Aden and Al‑Hudaydah. Scattered thunderstorms are expected over mountainous areas, and strong winds may affect the southern and eastern coasts, prompting advisories for drivers to avoid flash‑flood zones and for residents to stay hydrated.

In the Palestinian territories, the meteorological service forecast clear but hot weather for the same period, with strong heat persisting across the West Bank and Gaza. Temperatures are expected to rise further on Saturday and Sunday, and officials cautioned against prolonged sun exposure during peak hours and the risk of fire in dry vegetation.

Both agencies highlighted health risks from the intense heat and urged the public to take preventive measures.
