Severe rain and wind damage roads and trees in Parma and Mantova provinces, Italy

Intense thunderstorms hit the province of Parma, delivering up to 31 mm of rain in fifteen minutes and wind gusts reaching 80 km/h. The provincial road service coordinated the removal of fallen branches, trees and boulders on several provincial roads, including the Pilastrello (Sp18) and routes near Soragna, Fontevivo and Fidenza. Police and road crews deployed about a dozen personnel to clear the debris, and the ducal park of the Colorno palace was closed for safety until inspections were completed.

A similar weather event affected the Gonzaga area in the province of Mantova, where an average of 25 mm of rain fell, with localized totals exceeding 50 mm in Luzzara, Reggiolo and Gonzaga. Strong winds uprooted large trees, prompting the Consorzio di Bonifica Terme dei Gonzaga to begin clearing operations to keep water channels free of obstructions. No flooding was reported, and water levels are gradually returning to normal as monitoring continues.
