Severe Storm Floods Guadalajara and Suspends Line 4 of Urban Train
A powerful thunderstorm hit the Guadalajara metropolitan area on Saturday, producing extensive flooding, road blockages, and landslides. Water levels reached up to three metres at a major under‑pass, prompting closure of several avenues and the temporary suspension of line 4 of the city's electric train system. Authorities deployed police road‑safety units and rescue crews, freeing six motorists stranded in flooded vehicles and using cranes to clear the streets. A provisional shuttle service was provided between Tlajomulco Centro and the Jalisco 200 Años station while repairs were carried out. The storm also caused three trees to fall and left three cars stranded, with multiple intersections reported as underwater.
Traffic normalisation gradually resumed as water receded, but officials warned of lingering hazards such as sinkholes and damaged road surfaces. Residents were urged to use alternative routes and exercise caution.
