Severe Storms Bring Down Trees and Disrupt Power in Bracciano and Reggio Emilia, Italy

Intense thunderstorms with strong winds and hail struck central and northern Italy. In Bracciano, the storm caused numerous trees and branches to fall, prompting the municipality, civil protection, police, fire services and utility firms ENEL and Acea to clear debris and restore electricity and water services. Residents were urged to avoid large trees and limit travel until the alert ends.

A similar weather system hit the Reggio Emilia area, especially Novellara and Correggio, toppling dozens of trees that damaged parked cars, knocked down power lines and caused temporary road closures. Over 60 rescue interventions were carried out by fire crews, and the local civil protection team worked to remove the fallen vegetation. No injuries were reported, though residents noted long‑standing concerns about inadequate tree maintenance.
