Severe storms cause flooding and damage across Italy
Severe weather across different regions of Italy has caused significant localized damage. In Pentone, heavy rainfall led to flooding in at least four social housing apartments managed by Aterp. Residents reported water entering through roofs and electrical systems. Local complaints suggest that inadequate drainage and a lack of extraordinary maintenance since 2001 have exacerbated the situation.
In the Isarco Valley, a violent storm involving large hail—some pieces reaching five centimeters in diameter—caused widespread flooding. Areas including Bressanone and Varna experienced significant water accumulation in basements, garages, and elevator shafts, with water levels reaching approximately seventy centimeters in some locations. Firefighters were deployed for numerous interventions to pump out water and clear drains blocked by hail.
