Toronto storm causes widespread flooding and damages Rogers Stadium

A severe storm system swept through the Greater Toronto Area on Wednesday, September 2, causing widespread disruption, flooding, and structural damage. Environment Canada issued multiple emergency alerts, warning of torrential rain, wind gusts exceeding 110 km/h, and the potential for tornadoes.

In Toronto, the storm resulted in significant power outages, affecting approximately 65,000 customers at the peak. Flooding impacted major transit routes, including the Don Valley Parkway, and caused the suspension of subway service during the afternoon and evening rush hours. Toronto Police reported numerous incidents of fallen trees and downed power lines across the city.

Rogers Stadium, a 50,000-capacity outdoor venue at Downsview Park, sustained significant structural damage, including the collapse of sections of its grandstands and seating areas. Live Nation Canada is currently assessing the extent of the damage, which has cast doubt on the upcoming AC/DC Power Up Tour concert scheduled for September 16. No injuries were reported at the stadium during the event.
