Severe storms trigger emergency responses in Argentina

Severe storms and intense wind gusts have caused significant damage across different regions in Argentina, prompting emergency responses in Pirané and Trenque Lauquen.

In Pirané, torrential rain and heavy winds on Saturday caused roofs to blow off, trees to fall, and utility poles to collapse. Mayor Yéssica Palacios stated that the municipality, local council, provincial police, and the electricity company REFSA have activated emergency protocols. Maintenance crews are working to clear debris and restore circulation, while social services are assisting affected families.

In Trenque Lauquen, heavy winds on Friday led to fallen trees, branches, and power lines. Mayor Francisco Recoulat coordinated an emergency operation involving municipal departments and volunteer firefighters. Crews have been deployed to prioritize areas where risks to homes, vehicles, or electrical grids exist, as well as to clear obstructed public roads.
