Severe Thunderstorm Threat Expands Across Georgia

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for north and central Georgia on July 13, 2026, warning of numerous to widespread thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts of 55‑70 mph, frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall. The outlook listed all affected counties and noted that some storms could become strong to severe.

A concurrent Mesoscale Discussion from the Storm Prediction Center highlighted similar wind‑speed threats for southeastern Georgia and parts of North Carolina, indicating the potential need to extend Severe Thunderstorm Watch 486 southward as additional convective development occurs along merging outflows.
