Missouri and Nebraska Face Severe Storm Threat with Tornado Watch

On July 30‑31 2026 the Storm Prediction Center issued Mesoscale Discussion 1813, warning that a cold front and strong low‑level shear could produce one or two tornadoes, damaging wind gusts and hail across central and eastern Missouri as part of Tornado Watch 536. The discussion highlighted high CAPE values, mid‑70s dewpoints and a stationary front near the MO/IL border as key factors.

At the same time, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch was active for western and central Nebraska, with forecasters noting the possibility of isolated tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds and flash‑flooding. Scattered severe storms were expected to continue into the overnight hours, with cooler temperatures and brief showers expected later Saturday.
