Severe Thunderstorms and Flood Threats Sweep Florida's Palm Beach, Broward, and Brevard Counties

On Saturday, June 20, the National Weather Service in Miami issued three severe thunderstorm warnings for Palm Beach and Broward counties. The storms produced wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail ranging from quarter‑size to half‑dollar size, endangering vehicles, roofs, siding and trees across Wellington, Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge and northern Broward.

At the same time, the National Weather Service office in Melbourne warned that Brevard County faced a 70 % chance of rain, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected to move inland early and then east toward the coast. Forecasts called for 2–4 inches of rain in short periods, wind gusts of 40–55 mph, occasional small hail and localized flooding, while temperatures remained in the low 90s with heat‑index values above 100 °F. Residents were urged to seek shelter, avoid low‑lying areas and stay hydrated.
