Severe thunderstorms forecast for central and eastern France on June 8, 2026

A clash of air masses will bring unstable conditions to France on Monday, 8 June 2026. Warm air moving north‑east from Spain will meet a cooler oceanic flow approaching from the west, creating the potential for strong thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail and wind gusts up to 70‑80 km/h. The most likely impact zones are the Massif Central, the Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes region and Franche‑Comté, where localised flooding and wind damage could occur.

Meteorological services have issued yellow vigilance for 18 departments, ranging from the Paris basin to the Lyon‑Rhône‑Alpes corridor, warning of possible intense convection, localized hail and brief periods of heavy precipitation before a predicted heat wave later in the week.
