Severe thunderstorms threaten eastern Colorado plains and southeast Wyoming

The Storm Prediction Center placed much of the eastern Colorado plains in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms on Thursday, with damaging wind as the primary threat and hail of up to two inches possible. Storms are expected to develop over the mountains after midday and move eastward, exiting the area near midnight. Temperatures will be in the low‑mid 90s, and a flash‑flood watch is in effect for the Aspen Acres burn area.

The National Weather Service office in Cheyenne issued a slight risk for southeast Wyoming, with a marginal risk along and east of I‑25. Isolated large hail and damaging winds are the main concerns, especially across western Nebraska. The forecast calls for thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon and evening, with continued chances of showers and storms through the weekend.
