Severe Weather Alerts Issued for San Juan, Argentina and Quintana Roo, Mexico

Argentina's National Meteorological Service issued a yellow alert for the Zonda wind in San Juan province, warning of gusts that may exceed 60 km/h across the pre‑cordillera zones of Calingasta, Pocito, Rivadavia, Sarmiento, Ullum, Zonda, Iglesia, Jáchal, Coronel Felipe Varela and General Lamadrid. The service cautioned that the wind could reduce visibility, raise temperatures sharply, lower humidity, increase fire risk and make road travel hazardous, and advised residents to avoid outdoor activities, secure loose objects and stay informed via official channels.

In Mexico, tropical wave 16 is expected to bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, temperatures up to 38 °C (heat index 41 °C) and gusts up to 50 km/h across much of Quintana Roo on 8 July. Rainfall totals of 5–25 mm are forecast for central and southern parts of the state, with strong winds and 1–2 m seas along the coast, prompting civil protection authorities to urge caution for navigation, outdoor exposure and to keep hydrated.
