Severe weather causes flooding and power outages in Norway
Heavy rainfall and strong winds have caused significant disruption across several regions in Norway. In Buskerud, the temporary road between Eidsfoss and Hakavik has been closed due to flooding, with authorities stating it will not reopen until at least Monday, October 26. Emergency services, including the Red Cross, have been deployed to assist with the situation.
Power outages have affected numerous households. In the Vestfold, Grenland, Hjartdal, and Svelvik areas, approximately 1,000 customers are without electricity after trees fell on power lines. Utility provider Lede has warned the public to stay away from downed lines, as they may still be live and life-threatening.
In Telemark, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) has maintained an orange flood warning for streams and rivers. High water levels are expected to increase, posing risks of erosion and flooding. Additionally, ferry services in Kragerø have been canceled due to the weather conditions.
