Sevilla and Sosnowiec compete for Ryanair engine maintenance center

Sevilla, Spain, and Sosnowiec, Poland, are competing to host a new engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) center for Ryanair. The project represents an estimated investment of approximately 500 million euros and is expected to create around 500 direct jobs.

Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson stated that the administrative process is ongoing across several countries and no final decision has been made. The airline aims to announce the definitive location before the end of the year, with construction scheduled to begin in early 2027 and operations starting by the first quarter of 2029.

In Sevilla, the candidacy has progressed through several administrative stages. The airline has established a subsidiary, Negocios Raiseber, and the Junta de Andalucía has granted environmental authorization. Additionally, the Port Authority of Seville has opened a process to allocate 94,600 square meters of land in the port's free zone for the project. While some Polish media reported in July that Sosnowiec had already been selected, Ryanair officials have since denied that a final choice has been reached.
