Ryanair engine maintenance center location competition

Overview

The Port of Seville has initiated legal procedures to lease approximately 94,600 square meters of land in its Free Zone for a proposed aircraft engine maintenance center by Ryanair. Managed through the subsidiary Negocios Raiseber, the project would focus on the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of turbofan engines, with a capacity for roughly 200 operations annually.

As the process evolves, Seville is competing against Sosnowiec, Poland, for the project. While initial estimates placed the investment at approximately 291.63 million euros, later reports suggest the total investment could reach approximately 500 million euros and create around 500 direct jobs.

Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson has stated that no final decision has been made and the administrative process is ongoing across several countries. The airline intends to announce the definitive location before the end of the year, with a goal to begin construction in early 2027 and commence operations by the first quarter of 2029.
