Sevilla advances cultural heritage through restoration and art

Sevilla is undergoing significant cultural and architectural developments. The city's Gerencia de Urbanismo y Medio Ambiente has launched a 3.9 million euro restoration project at the Real Monasterio de Santa Clara. This intervention focuses on the northeast area of the convent, specifically the Sala de Profundis, which is considered a local “Capilla Sixtina” currently hidden under lime. The project aims to recover these historic spaces after 25 years of waiting.

In the realm of arts and fashion, the exhibition “Spitze im Morgengrauen” (Lace at Dawn) is celebrating Sevilla's aesthetic influence. Held in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute Milan, the exhibition explores the city's identity through photography and fashion design, scheduled to run from September 17 to October 9 as part of the Milan Fashion Week 2026 calendar.

Additionally, historical landmarks such as the Plaza de España continue to be recognized for their architectural significance. Built between 1914 and 1929 for the Ibero-American Exposition, the site remains a major example of regionalist architecture, characterized by its use of brick, ceramics, and water features.
