Seville kicks off major housing projects in El Prado and Cerro Amate

Grupo ABU and the Seville City Council marked the start of the Residential El Prado development in the El Prado de San Sebastián district. The ceremony, attended by Mayor José Luis Sanz, unveiled a plan for four apartment blocks containing up to 53 units on a 7,796‑square‑metre site, with an estimated business volume exceeding €50 million. Financing will be provided by BBVA and construction carried out by Cartuja I. A company spokesperson said, “Each first stone represents more than just the start of work; it materialises months of planning and shared enthusiasm.” The mayor highlighted the need for public‑private collaboration to address the city’s housing challenges.

On the same day, officials inaugurated a micro‑VPO project in the Cerro Amate neighbourhood on Pedro de Madrid street. The scheme will create two protected‑rent apartments on a parcel with only a ten‑metre façade, funded with €460 000 from European, municipal, central and Andalusian sources. Housing Commissioner Rocío Díaz, sub‑delegate Francisco Toscano and Urban Planning councillor Juan de la Rosa were present. Toscano described the effort as “a work of surgery,” noting the joint cooperation required. The construction is slated to begin in June and the units are expected to be handed over in the third quarter of 2027.
