Seville religious councils announce 2027 procession updates

The General Council of Brotherhoods and Cofradías of Seville has announced several organizational changes for religious observances in 2027.

For Palm Sunday 2027, the order of processions along the Carrera Oficial will be restructured. The Sagrada Cena brotherhood will move to the third position, following Jesús Despojado, which will reclaim the second spot. This change follows a period of shifting positions for the Sagrada Cena, which occupied fifth place in 2025 and second in 2026. The full order for the day will include La Borriquita, Jesús Despojado, Sagrada Cena, Hiniesta, La Paz, San Roque, La Estrella, Amargura, and Amor.

Additionally, the Cristo de la Exaltación from the Hermandad de los Caballos de Santa Catalina has been selected to preside over the official Via Crucis in the Seville Cathedral on February 15, 2027. This marks the first time since 1978 that a chosen image will preside consecutively. The selection follows a pattern where images from Holy Thursday are chosen during years ending in seven.
