Seville youths gather for viral “farmear aura” social media battle

Hundreds of young people gathered at the Plaza de España in Seville to participate in a “farmear aura” battle, a social media trend that has transitioned from digital platforms to physical street gatherings. Organized primarily through TikTok, the event drew both participants and spectators to witness a symbolic competition.

Rather than physical combat, the participants compete by using poses, stares, dances, exaggerated gestures, and costumes to demonstrate charisma, style, and presence—qualities referred to as “aura.” The term “farmear” is derived from gaming terminology, meaning to repeat actions to accumulate resources, while “aura” represents a person's perceived social magnetism.

The competition included a 100 euro prize for the winner. Participants utilized internet memes, viral movements, and various characters to impress the crowd, whose reactions served as the unofficial metric for success. This phenomenon has reportedly begun to spread to other Spanish cities and international locations.
