Turkey faces multiple fires and emergency restrictions

Turkey is facing a period of heightened fire risk due to strong winds and meteorological conditions. In Çanakkale, authorities have implemented a three-day ban on open-air fires and prohibited harvesting and baling activities using machinery between 12:00 and 19:00 to prevent wildfires.

In Muğla, a significant fire broke out on a tour boat near Fethiye. Approximately 115 people, including many children, were forced to jump into the sea to escape the flames. The vessel was largely destroyed, but the Turkish Coast Guard and other emergency services successfully evacuated the passengers. Eleven individuals were treated for smoke inhalation and subsequently discharged from a regional hospital, with no fatalities reported.

Simultaneously, multiple forest fires have been reported across Aydın, Muğla, and Antalya. Emergency crews, including helicopters and ground teams, are actively working to control these blazes. In Silivri, a field fire forced the closure of the TEM highway and the evacuation of several homes as a precaution.
