Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin Denies Ties to Aziz Ihsan Aktaş in Bribery Trial

Oya Tekin, the suspended mayor of Seyhan district in Adana, appeared before the 1st Heavy Penal Court in Istanbul to defend herself against bribery charges linked to businessman Aziz Ihsan Aktaş. Tekin asserted, "Benim dönemimde Aktaş’ın sahibi olduğu firma ile hiçbir çalışmam yok," denying any contract or payment from Aktaş’s company.

Prosecutors allege that Aktaş leads a crime network that paid bribes to municipal officials to influence procurement, and they are seeking a prison term of four to twelve years for Tekin. Tekin questioned the lack of concrete evidence, emphasized equal application of the law, and expressed her frustration while speaking tearfully during the hearing.
