SFL Missions deploys two GHGSat greenhouse gas monitoring satellites

SFL Missions Inc. has confirmed the successful deployment of two greenhouse gas monitoring microsatellites, GHGSat-C18 (Eleanor) and GHGSat-C19 (Aidan). The spacecraft were launched on October 1 aboard the SpaceX Transporter 18 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

Developed using the 15-kg NEMO platform, these 33-pound satellites are designed to measure greenhouse gas emissions from specific facilities on the ground while orbiting approximately 310 miles above Earth. The deployment brings the total number of spacecraft developed for GHGSat to 13.

The satellites underwent integration and testing at SFL Missions’ facility in Vaughan, Ontario. GHGSat utilizes this orbital constellation to provide emissions data to various sectors, including oil and gas, mining, agriculture, and power generation, to support decarbonization efforts.
