Shadow of the Road reveals new story trailer

Another Angle Games and publisher Owclat Games have released a new story overview trailer for the tactical RPG Shadow of the Road. Debuting at the Telltale Games Choices Matter Festival, the trailer provides details regarding the game’s setting and narrative.

The game is set in an alternate timeline of 19th-century Japan during the Bakumatsu Period. The story depicts a violent conflict between the traditions of the Shōgun and the modernization efforts of the Emperor. Following the death of Master Mochitsugu, a loyal vassal to the Shōgun, his disciples Satoru and Akira are forced into exile as ronin.

The setting blends historical elements with science fiction and folklore, featuring advanced mechs provided by the East Nippon Company to the Emperor’s forces, alongside supernatural entities such as kami and yōkai. Shadow of the Road is scheduled to launch later this year, with a specific release date yet to be announced.
