Shakira begins historic 12-concert residency in Madrid

Colombian singer Shakira has arrived in Madrid to begin a historic 12-concert residency as part of her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’. The performances are being held at the specially constructed ‘Estadio Shakira’ within the Iberdrola Music complex in the Villaverde district.

The residency is accompanied by Macondo Park, a massive 220,000-square-meter cultural space inspired by the works of Gabriel García Márquez. This temporary ‘city’ features pavilions dedicated to literature, gastronomy, fashion, and art, and will host various cultural activities and guest artists before and after the shows. The event is expected to draw approximately 50,000 to 57,000 attendees per night, with a total estimated attendance of 650,000 over the course of the residency.

Economically, the tour has reached historic milestones, with Shakira reportedly breaking records for the highest-grossing Latin music tour, reaching approximately 417 million euros. The Madrid residency is expected to have a significant local impact, including increased demand for public transport and a boost to the regional economy.
