Shakira hosts major musical residency in Madrid
Colombian singer Shakira is currently holding a 12-concert residency in Madrid at Macondo Park as part of her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’. The residency, which has seen massive attendance with approximately 50,000 to 57,000 fans per show, has become a major cultural event in the Villaverde district.
A major highlight of the residency has been surprise guest appearances. Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz joined Shakira on stage for multiple performances, including renditions of their classic hit ‘La Tortura’ and ‘Corazón Partío’. The artists, who share a friendship spanning over 20 years, have celebrated their musical connection and ‘Latin pride’ during these appearances. Other guests, such as Laura Pausini, have also participated in the residency.
Beyond the music, the Macondo Park venue serves as a cultural hub featuring gastronomy, art, and literature inspired by the works of Gabriel García Márquez. Shakira also used the platform to connect with the Ghetto Kids, a group of young dancers from Uganda, fulfilling a previous promise to meet them in Madrid.
