Shamso Bibi, Pakistani TikTok star, shot dead in Taxila

Shamso Bibi, a 28-year-old Pakistani TikTok creator known online as Ayesha Gilamana, was shot dead in her car in Taxila, near Islamabad, on August 14. The influencer, who had over one million followers, was targeted by two men on a motorcycle who opened fire at close range. A bullet struck Bibi in the neck, killing her, while the subsequent loss of vehicle control caused a collision with a truck that seriously injured her 15-year-old sister.

Bibi’s father, Fazal Sahibzada, filed a complaint alleging the murder was linked to financial disputes. He claimed his daughter had received death threats after demanding money from two men, Kausar and Javed. The family also noted that Bibi had been lured out of her home following a phone call from an individual named Kashif shortly before the attack.

Police have detained at least four suspects in connection with the shooting, including individuals believed to have assisted the perpetrators. The incident has renewed domestic concerns regarding the safety of women and social media influencers in Pakistan. Data from the organization Sahil indicated that thousands of cases of gender-based violence were recorded in the first half of 2026.
