Matteo Berrettini wins comeback match at Shanghai Masters 1000

Matteo Berrettini has advanced to the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 in Shanghai following a comeback victory against Aleksandar Kovacevic. After losing the first set in a tie-break (6-7(3)), Berrettini dominated the subsequent sets to win 6-1, 6-4.

Berrettini’s performance was highlighted by 23 aces and a strong service game that prevented Kovacevic from earning any break points in the latter stages of the match. He is scheduled to face the 16th seed, Brandon Nakashima, in the next round.

Other Italian players participating in the Shanghai tournament include Flavio Cobolli, who is positioned in the same section of the draw as Alexander Zverev, and Lorenzo Musetti. Federico Cinà was eliminated in the first round by Alex Molcan.
