Xi Jinping to visit Kyrgyzstan and Egypt for SCO Summit and state visits

Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to undertake a diplomatic tour of Kyrgyzstan and Egypt from August 30 to September 3, 2026. The trip includes attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where he will meet with regional leaders, including President Sadyr Japarov, to discuss security, economic cooperation, and regional stability.

Following the summit, President Xi will conduct a state visit to Egypt at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This visit marks his first trip to the country in ten years and coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt. Discussions in Cairo are expected to focus on bilateral ties, trade, investment, and regional peace.

In Egypt, technological and military cooperation is a growing focus. Reports indicate that Huawei has submitted a bid to provide over 1,400 high-end Ascend 950-series AI chips for Egyptian government data centers. This trip represents Xi's second overseas mission of 2026, following his visit to North Korea in June.
