Shanling announces Q2 MP3 player with retro design

The audio company Shanling has announced the Q2 MP3 player, a device designed to capture the nostalgic aesthetic of the classic iPod while providing modern high-resolution audio capabilities.

The Q2 features a physical scroll wheel and a 2.09-inch HD touchscreen, housed in a compact aluminum alloy chassis weighing 83 grams. To cater to audiophiles, the player supports a wide range of high-resolution formats, including FLAC, ALAC, WAV, DSF, and DFF, with the ability to decode PCM audio up to 768kHz/32-bit. It also supports Tidal hi-res streaming.

Technical specifications include a quad-DAC system, a 4.4mm balanced headphone jack, and a 3.5mm output. The device offers wireless flexibility via a bi-directional Bluetooth transmitter/receiver supporting LDAC and aptX. For storage, it accommodates up to 2TB via microSD cards. The player is powered by a 1,850 mAh battery providing an advertised 13.5-hour life and includes dual-band Wi-Fi and a USB-C port for charging, data transfer, or use as an external USB DAC.
