Sharjah hosts 26th International Storytellers Forum

The 26th edition of the Sharjah International Storytellers Forum opened in Sharjah, organized by the Sharjah Heritage Institute. Held from September 23 to 27 under the theme ‘Tales of Friends,’ the event features more than 100 storytellers, researchers, and experts from approximately 28 to 30 countries.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the opening ceremony. The forum includes a scientific program, training workshops, and over 30 publications, alongside three specialized exhibitions: ‘Secrets of Friends,’ ‘Collectibles of Friends,’ and ‘Ambassador Without Borders.’

Finland is the guest of honor for this edition, showcasing its oral heritage through works such as the ‘Kalevala’ epic. During the ceremony, Bahraini artist Mohammed Yassin was honored as the distinguished personality of the forum, alongside several Emirati storytellers recognized for their contributions to preserving oral traditions and cultural heritage.
