Sharp showcases disaster resilience technologies at CEATEC 2026
At CEATEC 2026, Sharp Corporation showcased a suite of advanced technologies focused on social resilience, disaster prevention, and communication infrastructure. The company’s presentation aligns with its corporate slogan, “A step ahead of people’s wishes,” aiming to address challenges such as climate change and aging infrastructure.
Key highlights include the “Triple Free Laundry” system, which won an Excellence Award at the CEATEC AWARD 2026. This water-recycling laundry system uses specialized filters and alkaline ion water instead of detergent to purify and reuse water, making it functional in areas without drainage or during water shortages in disaster shelters. Sharp aims to commercialize this system in the latter half of fiscal year 2026.
Another major innovation is the “Instant 5G Network,” a portable system housed in a compact carry case. It allows for the rapid deployment of high-speed, secure local 5G networks in remote areas or disaster zones, potentially integrating with satellite communications. Sharp targets a 2027 commercial launch for this technology.
Additional exhibits included satellite communication terminals designed to track MEO/LEO satellites for stable connectivity on moving platforms like ships, as well as IoT-based disaster prevention solutions and water leak detection systems.
